It took just a few hours for one of the biggest money matches in East African FC to go from talk to reality.
Fresh off his dominant Ksh 50,000 victory over Ado, Tanzanian star Hermes appeared to be on a mission. He went around challenging Kenyan players, repeatedly claiming that most of them were nowhere near his level.

According to Hermes, only Shaq and Prorate deserved to be mentioned alongside him.

That alone was enough to get people talking. But Hermes wasn’t done.
The Tanzanian then turned his attention to two of the most respected names in Kenya’s gaming scene — Demon and Harry Kappa.
“Kappa is a fraud… just like Demon,” Hermes claimed in a WhatsApp group conversation that quickly became the hottest topic in the East African FC community.

The comments immediately sparked reactions. Not because Hermes was calling out random players. Because he was calling out Harry Kappa.
For many gamers, Harry Kappa is Kenya’s FC GOAT.
Why Harry Kappa’s Name Carries So Much Weight
The former Betika champion produced one of the greatest runs East African FC has ever seen when he won the 2025 Betika tournament and walked away with Ksh 500,000. During that run, he crushed Hermes 5-1.
If that wasn’t enough, Kappa has also achieved something nobody else has managed to replicate — winning five tournaments in a row. To this day, no player has come close to matching that record.
Just a few weeks ago, Harry Kappa returned to Kenya after competing in Morocco’s e-Botola, further cementing his status as one of the region’s most accomplished FC players.
Demon wasn’t exactly a soft target either. The Kenyan star is a two-time eLigue 1 champion and has earned trips to France thanks to those victories.
That’s why many Kenyan fans were left stunned as Hermes continued firing shots.
The Tanzanian didn’t stop at calling Kappa a fraud.
He repeatedly questioned Kappa’s achievements and even suggested that a money match against him would be an easy win.

At one point, Hermes claimed that facing Kappa might be the second easiest money match he has ever played, with only his recent victory over Ado ranking higher.
Whether it was confidence, mind games or pure rage-baiting, one thing is certain. It worked.
Kappa Accepts Hermes’ Challenge
Word eventually reached Harry Kappa. And unlike many expected, he wasn’t interested in exchanging insults. He wanted to play.
Sources close to the negotiations informed East Gamers News that Kappa accepted the challenge almost immediately after learning what had been said.
His response was simple. If Hermes wants a money match, he’s going to get one.
East Gamers News understands that organizers are now working towards staging the highly anticipated showdown later this week, although the exact date is yet to be confirmed.
The format will be first to four wins. The stakes? Ksh 60,000.
Harry Kappa’s camp is prepared to contribute Ksh 30,000, while Hermes’ side is expected to match the amount, creating a winner-takes-all prize pool of Ksh 60,000.

At the time of writing, organizers are still waiting for Hermes to officially confirm his stake.
