If anyone still doubted SC Gamer Scad’s ability to perform under pressure, the Safaricom Hook Tournament just gave them their answer.
The SC Esports star produced one of the most impressive tournament runs we’ve seen this year, taking down some of Kenya’s biggest FC names on his way to winning the tournament.

And he didn’t have an easy path. Not even close.

This was a tournament packed with talent. Some of the region’s most recognizable players showed up, including Shaq, Lord7, Trex, Lil Pip, Tank, Kijana Wa Yesu, Marlone77 and several other top competitors. Every round felt like a final.
Scad’s journey to the title was built on nerve, composure and a refusal to panic when the pressure kicked in.
His first major test came against Lord7. The two battled in a thrilling encounter that went right down to the wire before Scad edged it 4-3.
Then came Trex.
Again, another tense showdown. Again, another 4-3 victory.
At that point, people started paying attention.
But the real statement came when he faced Shaq.
Few players in East Africa command as much respect as Shaq, and many expected him to stop Scad’s run. Instead, Scad delivered yet another clutch performance, beating him 4-3 and booking his place in the Grand Final.
Three straight victories over fellow professionals. Three straight 4-3 scorelines.
Three straight reminders that when the pressure is highest, Scad somehow finds another gear.
Waiting for him in the final was an unlikely challenger.
TR Esports manager Jaffar had quietly put together a tournament run of his own and was playing some of the best FC many had seen from him.
He opened his campaign with a ruthless 7-3 victory over Gambino before completely destroying Denno 7-0. He followed that up with a convincing 4-1 win over Timo and then demolished SC1 Tank 6-1.
By the time Jaffar beat Kijana Wa Yesu 3-1 in the semifinals, nobody was calling his run a fluke anymore.
Grand Final: Scad vs Jaffar
The final was set. Scad versus Jaffar.
One player had fought through a brutal gauntlet of professional stars. The other had bulldozed his way through the bracket with dominant scorelines.
Something had to give. When the dust settled, it was Scad standing tall.
The SC Esports player completed his remarkable run by defeating Jaffar in the Grand Final to become the Safaricom Hook Tournament champion.

It was the kind of performance that gamers will be talking about for a while. Not because he won. Because of who he beat along the way.
Lord7. Trex. Shaq. Then Jaffar. That’s a championship run worthy of respect.
As East Africa’s FC scene continues to grow, tournaments like this remind us just how much talent exists across the region. On this occasion, however, there was only one man left standing.
SC Gamer Scad. And after a run like that, nobody can say he didn’t earn it.
