Harry Kappa vs Shaq will no longer take place on June 27 after Harry Kappa requested more time to deal with pressing personal matters, East Gamers News has learned. The highly anticipated FC 26 showdown was set to be one of the biggest money matches in East African esports this year, with a total stake of Ksh. 30,000 on the line. Both sides had agreed to contribute Ksh. 15,000 each, creating a winner-takes-all battle between two of Kenya’s biggest FC stars.
The postponement may disappoint fans who had been eagerly counting down to the clash, but there is some good news. The match has not been cancelled. Instead, it has been pushed to July, with Harry Kappa insisting that the contest must happen next month.

“I have some pressing issues to deal with first, but the match will definitely be played in July,” Harry Kappa said through the match organizer.
While an exact date has not yet been confirmed, the message is clear: the showdown is still on.
Why This Match Has Captured The Community’s Attention
There are money matches. Then there are money matches that everyone wants to watch. This one falls into the second category. The Harry Kappa vs Shaq showdown brings together two players who have built their reputations in very different ways but arrived at the same destination — the top of East African FC esports.
Harry Kappa remains one of the most accomplished players to emerge from the region. The former PlugnPlay Esports player won the 2025 Betika tournament and walked away with a massive Ksh. 500,000 prize. Earlier this year, he also represented East Africa at the eBotola in Morocco, where he impressed before returning home.

On the other side stands Shaq. The Z Esports star has rapidly grown into one of the most feared competitors in the FC 26 scene.

In recent weeks, the teenage sensation achieved one of the biggest milestones of his career by becoming only the second player ever to win five consecutive tournaments. The first player to achieve that feat? Harry Kappa. Suddenly, this money match feels like more than just a battle for cash. It’s a clash between two generations of champions.
How The Match Came About
Part of the excitement surrounding this contest comes from how it was created. Both players recently faced Tanzanian star Hermes in separate money matches. Hermes had been widely regarded as one of the strongest players in East Africa and confidently backed himself against challengers.
Shaq stepped up first and defeated him. Days later, Harry Kappa did the same. With both players having conquered the same opponent, fans naturally started asking the question: Who is better? The answer was supposed to come on June 27. Now, the community will have to wait a little longer.

Why It Matters
The postponement changes the schedule, but it doesn’t change the significance of the match. This is still one of the biggest FC 26 money matches East Africa has seen this year. There is Ksh. 30,000 on the line. There are bragging rights at stake.
And perhaps most importantly, there is the opportunity to settle a debate that has been growing louder with every tournament result. Harry Kappa represents experience, legacy, and proven success at the highest level. Shaq, on the other hand, represents the new generation, carrying momentum and confidence after months of dominant performances. Whenever the match finally takes place, the entire East African FC community will be watching.
The Wait Continues
For now, fans will have to be patient. The June 27 date is gone, but the match itself remains very much alive. Harry Kappa vs Shaq has simply been delayed, not cancelled. And if Harry Kappa’s latest message is anything to go by, July could deliver one of the most anticipated FC 26 battles East Africa has seen in a long time.
