Aksam Zimbe is ready to remind East Africa who he really is. That is the message from one of Uganda’s most respected FC players as the community moves into EA SPORTS FC 27.
For much of the previous FC/FIFA games, Aksam was one of the names opponents did not want to see on the other side of the bracket. He was winning tournaments, mastering the game’s mechanics and building a reputation that eventually reached far beyond Uganda.
Then FC 26 happened.
The tournaments became fewer. His training dropped. His attention moved towards university and his studies. It was not because he had suddenly lost his love for competitive gaming. Aksam simply had other things to finish.

Now, with more time available for training, the Ugandan believes FC 27 can be the beginning of another chapter. And he has already made his intentions clear. FC 26 was a minor setback to a greater comeback in FC 27.

From Game Stations to the Ugandan FC Scene

Aksam’s story started like that of many young gamers. He was simply another kid going to game stations.
In 2018, he started playing FIFA casually. There was no grand plan at first. Then YouTube changed things. Watching professional players opened his eyes to another level of the game. He liked the way they played, started studying their gameplay and began grinding seriously.

A money match worth around UGX 400,000 also gave him a different kind of motivation. Suddenly, gaming was not just something to do for fun. There was a competitive world around it.
Aksam began mastering the mechanics, beating some of the players who were considered the best around his area and eventually reached a point where he believed he could compete at the highest level.
His first tournament gave him another important lesson. He reached the final but fell short against his friend Shin, a player Aksam credits for helping him reach the professional level and continuing to push him.
Aksam Started Building a Name in Uganda

His breakthrough came after finishing runner up in the Game House Tournament. A few weeks later, he won the AJStore Tournament, taking home UGX 500,000.
Then the trophies started coming.

The FC 25 Version Was a Problem
Ask Aksam Zimbe what made him so effective during FC 25 and he does not hesitate. He had mastered the mechanics. Speed boosts. Trivela shooting. The 100 depth meta. Green timed finishing. He knew how to use them.
But mechanics were only part of it. Aksam believes his gameplay was unique. He describes himself as an attacking player who likes creativity, fancy skill moves and finding ways to make things happen around the box. It was not just about winning. He wanted his games to be entertaining.

That style helped turn him into one of Uganda’s most respected players. He also built serious rivalries along the way, particularly with Kid Musa and Ezra.

Ezra gave him one of his biggest challenges because of his possession based approach. And then there was Prorate. Aksam enjoyed playing the Kenyan because their styles were similar, which made their meetings especially interesting.
SportsBiz 2025 Put Aksam on Africa’s Map
Aksam’s biggest FC 25 performance came at the SportsBiz Africa Esports Cup in Kigali. The tournament brought together some of the best players on the continent, and Aksam showed that he belonged in that conversation.
He finished third.
But one match stood out even more. His encounter with Nigeria’s Faruk Manzo helped push his name across the African FC community.
For Aksam, SportsBiz was not just another tournament. It became the tournament that introduced him to a much wider audience. He says the competition also helped him understand exactly where he stood against players from across Africa.
And he wanted more. He still hopes to win SportsBiz one day.
Then FC 26 Became a Different Story
Aksam actually started FC 26 well. He won the Paritek weekly competition three times and finished runner up twice, adding other tournament performances along the way. But then his competitive focus changed.
One major factor was Uganda’s eligibility situation for FC Pro. Aksam says learning that Uganda was not eligible to participate greatly reduced his interest in competitive FC. Then came another problem.
Uganda went through a tournament drought of more than four months. For a player who feeds off competition, that made it difficult to maintain the same level.
So Aksam made a decision. He stepped away from competitive FC and focused on his studies.
The Student Behind the Controller

Aksam Zimbe is currently studying Information Technology at Victoria University. He also works part time as a teacher. That is something many people in the gaming community probably do not know about him.
His family has supported him throughout the journey and, according to him, they have been especially proud of seeing him compete internationally.
Outside gaming, he enjoys football, follows the English Premier League, swims and travels.
Gaming has also played a major role financially. For Aksam, esports has not just been entertainment. It has created opportunities and helped change his life.
SportsBiz 2026 Was the Reality Check
Returning to SportsBiz in 2026 was supposed to be another opportunity to compete against Africa’s best. Instead, it became a reminder of what happens when a player spends too long away from serious competition.
Aksam finished seventh in his group with three points and was eliminated. He admits he was not prepared enough. After taking so long away from competitive gaming, his sharpness had dropped.
He also watched the Ugandan scene change while he was away. Players such as Bashir, Jao Bin and Ezra were now pushing harder, making the competition at home stronger.
But Aksam says he was not bitter about seeing other players get recognition. In fact, he was happy for them. After dominating much of FC 25, he believes the rise of new competition is actually good for Uganda.
Now he wants to be part of it again.
Aksam Zimbe Wants to Bring Back the Old Version

This is where FC 27 becomes interesting. Aksam says he will have more time to train the game, and he believes he can return to his best because he trusts his gameplay.
He is currently signed to Nondescript Gaming, a Ugandan team, and enters the new FC cycle with something to prove.
His targets are clear.
He wants another run at SportsBiz. He wants to compete in major international tournaments such as the Rivalry Series. And eventually, he wants to play at the World Cup.
There is also one opponent he would particularly like to face again – Anas Badr. Aksam considers the Egyptian one of the toughest players he has faced and was highly impressed by his performance at SportsBiz 2026. He wants another shot.
Why Aksam’s Comeback Matters

Aksam’s story is bigger than one player returning to a video game. Uganda has talented FC players, but Aksam believes the country still needs a stronger structure around them. He points to Kenya and Tanzania as examples of countries that have built better systems to help players develop and compete.
Uganda, he says, still relies heavily on passionate individuals trying to create opportunities themselves. He also wants better server access and for East African countries to become eligible for FC Pro.
Those changes could completely alter the region’s competitive scene. And Aksam knows what is possible because he has already experienced the international level.
