Shaq joins Phoenix Esports, and just like that, one of the biggest transfers in Kenyan EA SPORTS FC history is official.
Barely 48 hours after becoming the first East African player to win six consecutive Africa Ultimate Series titles, Shaq has completed a move to Phoenix Esports on a two-year contract. He doesn’t arrive alone either. His teammate, Collo Gamer, has also signed a two-year deal, bringing to an end one of the most successful partnerships Z Esports has ever had.
For Phoenix Esports, this isn’t just a transfer. It’s the start of a new chapter.
Shaq Joins Phoenix Esports Alongside Collo Gamer
Shaq leaves Z Esports after three remarkable years that transformed both his career and the club’s reputation across East Africa. During his time with the organization, he established himself as one of the region’s finest EA SPORTS FC players, winning multiple local tournaments before recently rewriting history by breaking Harry Kappa’s long-standing record for the most consecutive tournament wins.

Collo Gamer’s stay at Z Esports was shorter, having joined nine months ago from Santiago eHub, but his impact was equally significant. Together with Trex, who departed earlier this year for TR Esports, the trio formed what many considered the strongest team of the FC 25/26 season.
Whether it was local competitions or online events, Z Esports almost always entered as one of the favourites.

Phoenix Just Got Even Stronger
Shaq and Collo Gamer now walk into a squad already packed with proven winners.
The Phoenix Esports roster includes:
- Ado – Helabet Tournament champion
- Sam Jr – Makeveli Tournament champion
- Jesse – Haier World Cup Tour champion
- Haruun Haruun
- Prince
- Mohabi
- Marlone
- Telki
Adding two of Kenya’s hottest players only strengthens a lineup that many already considered among the region’s elite. There’s a strong argument that Phoenix Esports is now the team every club in East Africa will be chasing.
Z Esports Proud of Their Departing Stars
Despite losing two key players, Z Esports co-owner Floky says the organization is proud of everything Shaq and Collo Gamer achieved during their time with the club.
“Shaq and Collo Gamer gave everything for this badge, and we’re incredibly proud of what they achieved with Z Esports. They helped make us one of the strongest teams during the FC 25/26 season, and they’ll always be part of our story. We thank them for their commitment and wish them nothing but success in this new chapter.”

Phoenix Looking Ahead
Phoenix Esports owner Didz Jr believes the arrivals of Shaq and Collo Gamer mark another major step in the organization’s ambitions.
“We’re delighted to welcome two of the best young players in Kenya to Phoenix Esports. Phoenix is the home of champions, and Shaq and Collo Gamer have already shown they know what it takes to win. Collo Gamer is also our defending Phoenix Tournament champion after winning the last edition as a Z Esports player, and we’re excited to see him defend that title wearing Phoenix colours.”
That last point adds another interesting storyline. Back in March, Collo Gamer won the Phoenix Tournament while representing Z Esports, taking home Ksh. 20,000. The next time he defends that crown this Sunday, June 5, he’ll do it as a Phoenix player.
Why This Matters
Transfers like these don’t happen every day in East African EA SPORTS FC esports. Shaq arrives fresh from one of the greatest individual achievements the region has ever seen, while Collo Gamer continues to establish himself as one of Kenya’s brightest talents.
Together, they bring winning experience, consistency and championship pedigree to a Phoenix Esports side that was already loaded with talent. Shaq joins Phoenix Esports as one of East Africa’s biggest stars. Now, together with Collo Gamer, he’ll be looking to turn one of the region’s strongest squads into its most successful.
