Shaq FC 26 was not just another good season for the young Kenyan. It was the year he stopped looking like the next big thing and started looking like the player everyone else had to chase.
On Sunday, that season received another stamp of approval.
Shaq was announced as the Football Esports House Player of the Year 25/26, adding another individual honour to a campaign that had already seen him finish at the top of the Football Esports House Kenya Best Athlete of the Year leaderboard.
And the numbers alone tell part of the story. 91 points. Eight tournament wins. No. 1 in Kenya.

Behind him were Moses Ndarwa (free agent), better known as Lord7, and Ibrah, with an impressive list of Kenyan players following them.
But the leaderboard only tells you where Shaq finished. It does not tell you how he got there.
Shaq FC 26 Started at Z Esports
The season began with Shaq still wearing the Z Esports badge.
For three years, Z had been an important part of his development. It was where he trained, learned and grew from a talented teenager into one of Kenya’s most dangerous FC players.

By the time FC 26 arrived, however, Shaq was no longer simply a promising youngster. He was already a proven tournament player.
And then came the change.
Shaq left Z Esports during the season and joined Phoenix Esports, making the move alongside Collo Gamer. It was a major career decision. But instead of slowing him down, the change appeared to unlock another level.

The Trophies Started Coming
The Football Esports House achievements and leaderboard tells just how busy Shaq’s season became.
His eight recorded tournament wins included:
- Crown Ya East SC Winner
- Natkings Gaming Winner
- eLigue 1 Tour Winner
- SC x Pelikan Winner
- UCL Season 1 Winner
- HelaBet Season 2 Winner
- Kenya Gaming Festival Winner
- UCL Season 2 Winner
That is eight tournament victories in one season. And the money followed.
Shaq earned more than KSh 150,000 during the FC 26 campaign, showing that the season was not only about trophies and reputation. Competitive gaming was becoming a real source of income for the teenager.
But even that list does not capture the full picture. Some of Shaq’s biggest moments came outside the Football Esports House leaderboard.
Africa Ultimate Series Became Shaq FC 26 Season Playground
Perhaps the clearest sign that Shaq had entered another level came through the Africa Ultimate Series. This was where his consistency became almost ridiculous.
Shaq went on a run that eventually saw him break Harry Kappa’s record of five consecutive Africa Ultimate Series titles. He reached seven Africa Ultimate Series championships.
That was not just a good run. It was a statement.
The Africa Ultimate Series brought together strong players from East Africa and beyond, meaning Shaq was repeatedly facing players who knew exactly what he could do. They still could not stop him.
For a young player who had once been talked about as a future star, this was the point where the conversation changed. He was no longer waiting for his time. His time had arrived.
Phoenix Esports Gave Shaq Another Platform

The move to Phoenix was another major chapter. His early Phoenix days were not completely smooth. He experienced setbacks in tournaments, including an early defeat during the Phoenix tournament.
But Shaq responded in the way elite competitive players usually do. He kept playing. He kept winning.
The SC x Pelikan tournament became one of his first major wins with Phoenix. Then came more. The Ultimate Controller League Season 1. HelaBet Season 2. The Kenya Gaming Festival. UCL Season 2.

The Kenya Gaming Festival was particularly dramatic. Shaq had to fight through a difficult losers bracket before eventually beating Dav8 twice in the final stage to take the trophy.
That kind of tournament run says something about his season. Shaq was not simply winning when everything went his way. He was finding ways through tournaments.
Then Kenya Went to Nigeria
At some point, winning in Kenya was no longer enough. Shaq needed to test himself outside the country. That opportunity came in Lagos at the Rivalry Series 2026.
Kenya was making its first appearance at the competition, facing teams from Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire. Shaq represented Kenya alongside Prorate. And Kenya went on to win the tournament unbeaten.

Shaq finished the individual competition with:
- 2 wins
- 1 draw
- 1 loss
- 7 points
- +6 goal difference
Prorate ultimately took Player of the Tournament after going unbeaten, but Shaq had still helped Kenya make history in its first appearance.
The ENC Qualification Took the Story Even Further
Then came another international challenge. The Esports Nations Cup qualification route brought together players from across Africa.
Shaq survived the African ladder and became the only Kenyan to make it through the 128 player field, finishing 112th among those who advanced.
The regional playoff became one of the strangest chapters of his season. Electricity outages disrupted crucial matches. At one point, a match was awarded as a walkover after an outage on his side.
Later, another outage affected another important match. It would have been easy for the run to collapse there. Instead, Shaq eventually secured his place at the ENC. He was proud of what he had achieved.
“I’m very proud and I’m going to make Kenya proud,” he told East Gamers News after qualifying.
The ENC itself was later postponed, meaning Shaq has not yet had the opportunity to compete at the tournament. But the qualification remains one of the biggest achievements of his season.
Kigali Showed Him There Was Still Work to Do
A great season needs its difficult moments too. For Shaq, one of those came at the SportsBiz Africa Esports Cup in Kigali.
He finished third in Group A with 15 points and advanced to the knockout stage. Then the level got even higher. Xmozaa beat him 6-3. Zaid April followed with a 4-1 victory.
Shaq was out. It was not the ending he wanted, but perhaps it was an important reminder. Winning in Kenya and dominating regional tournaments does not guarantee success against the very best players in Africa.

There is always another level. And Shaq had now experienced it.
Why Shaq FC 26 Season Matters
There is a bigger story behind Shaq’s season. Kenyan FC esports has spent years producing talented players, but every generation eventually reaches the point where one player starts separating himself from the pack. And FC 26 was that season for Shaq.
He is still only 18, but the experience he collected this year is already far beyond what most young Kenyan players get. He has played under different teams. He has competed against some of Africa’s strongest players. He has travelled internationally. He has dealt with pressure, setbacks, connection problems and difficult opponents.
And he has learned how quickly the scene can change. The kid who started the year at Z Esports ended it as Kenya’s No. 1 player.
“I’m proud of this achievement and FC 27 will even be bigger.” He told East Gamers News.
That is the challenge he has now set for himself as the new season kicks off.
