Shaq FC Pro has officially moved into a completely different level after the Kenyan star received confirmation that he had qualified for the EA SPORTS FC Pro 27 Open Regional Qualifiers.
Shaq has made it through the first stage of EA’s official FC Pro 27 pathway, placing him among the 128 players from Africa who earned a spot in the Regional Qualifiers after the Open Ladder.
Now comes the difficult part.
Shaq FC Pro: What Has Shaq Actually Qualified For?
The first stage was the FC Pro 27 Open Ladder, which ran from September 21 to October 3.

Players competed in their regional ladders, with qualification determined by the highest peak skill rating they achieved during the competition window. Across the ten regions, 1,376 PlayStation 5 players advanced. Africa was allocated 128 places.
That is where Shaq comes in.

The invitation he received from EA specifically congratulated him for placing among the top-rated players in his region and confirmed that he had secured a place in the Regional Qualifiers.
In simple terms, Shaq has made it through the first gate.
Africa’s Top 128.
And the names around the top of the African ladder show the level of competition he was dealing with.
A leaderboard graphic shared after the ladder showed Dexx Junior of Senegal leading the region with a 1383 rating, followed by Hassan Wright on 1380, Xmozaaa on 1359, Toxic Joe on 1357 and Adam Hatake on 1350.

Shaq does not need to be among those five to qualify. His important achievement is that he got himself into the 128 players who survived the ladder. Now everyone starts again.

The Four African Spots Everyone Wants
The next stage is where the pressure goes through the roof.
The FC Pro Open Regional Qualifiers will take place online on October 10 and 11.
The format starts with a Swiss stage before moving into a double-elimination bracket, giving the players two days to fight for the few places available at the next stage.
And this is the number Kenyan fans need to remember:
Four. Only four African players will advance from the Regional Qualifiers to the Global Qualifier.

That means Shaq has gone from 128 African qualifiers to a stage where roughly three quarters of the field will be eliminated without getting anywhere near London.
Here, every result matters. Every mistake matters. One bad day could end the journey. One great run, however, could completely change Shaq’s FC career.
London Is the Next Big Prize
If Shaq can finish among Africa’s four best players in the Regional Qualifiers, the reward is enormous.
He will earn a place in the FC Pro Open Global Qualifier, which returns to London from November 5 to 7.
The Global Qualifier will feature 64 players. Those 64 will come from the ten Regional Qualifiers, with a total of 52 regional spots, while another 12 players receive direct invitations to the event.
The competition starts with a five-round Swiss stage. The top 32 then move into four eight-player double-elimination brackets.
And this is where another huge number appears. Sixteen.
The top four players from each of those four brackets, 16 players in total, will qualify for the FC Pro Open. There will be no separate Last Chance Qualifier for this stage either, meaning there is very little room for a player to recover from a poor run.
The FC Pro Open Is Where the World’s Best Come In
Those 16 players who survive London will not make up the entire FC Pro Open. They will be joined by eight directly invited players, creating a 24-player FC Pro Open field.
That is where the competition becomes global. The 24 players will be split into four groups of six and play a double round-robin group stage.
The stakes are massive. The winner of each group moves directly into the Top 8 and immediately earns a seat at the FC Pro World Championship.
The players finishing second and third move into the FC Pro Open Finals.
Fourth gets another chance through the following season’s Global Qualifier. Fifth and sixth are eliminated from that route.
Then the pressure becomes even more brutal. The FC Pro Open Finals are single elimination. Win and continue. Lose and go home. The quarterfinalists earn invitations to the season’s World Championship.
Why Shaq FC Pro Matters for Kenya
This is why Shaq’s invitation deserves much more attention than a normal tournament qualification.
Kenya has produced some excellent FC players. Shaq has already proved himself locally and internationally during FC 26, winning several tournaments including eLigue 1 Kenya, Rivalry Series in Nigeria and qualifying for the Esports Nations Cup.
But the FC Pro pathway is different.
This is an official EA competition built specifically around finding the players who can rise toward the global professional scene. And Shaq is now inside it. He has already cleared the first hurdle.
That means Kenyan fans can now watch one of their own compete directly against some of Africa’s strongest FC players for a chance to reach London. And if he gets there? The competition gets even bigger.
Shaq Said He Would Shock Them
There is also something satisfying about the timing.
During FC 26, when Shaq was asked about the prospect of facing the world’s best, he gave us a simple answer:
“I think I will shock them.”
At the time, it sounded like the confidence of an ambitious young player. Now there is a real path in front of him. The Regional Qualifiers are days away.

There are 128 African players standing in the way. Only four will reach London. Then only 16 from the 64-player Global Qualifier will reach the FC Pro Open.
So the road is long. Very long. But Shaq is already on it.
