Shaq may be the Kenyan heading to Saudi Arabia, but the Africa ENC Top 500 Leaderboard tells a much bigger story about the strength of Kenya’s FC 26 scene.
The Phoenix Esports star finished 112th on the African ladder and eventually secured Kenya’s ticket to the Esports Nations Cup. But he was far from the only Kenyan making noise.
East Gamers News has confirmed 16 Kenyan players inside Africa’s Top 500. And when you look through the names, it becomes clear that Kenya’s FC 26 talent pool goes much deeper than one player.

From established tournament winners to esports organisation stars, free agents and players who have been quietly building their names over time, Kenya had a serious presence on the continental ladder.
Shaq simply took it the furthest.
Shaq leads Kenya’s Africa ENC Top 500 charge
At 112th, Shaq sits comfortably at the top of the confirmed Kenyan list. His position is even more important because he did not stop at the ladder. He became the only Kenyan to qualify for the ENC, surviving the African qualification process before earning his ticket to Saudi Arabia.
His road was anything but smooth.
Shaq was competing from East Africa, where players continue to deal with the lack of a nearby EA server and the ping disadvantage that comes with it. He then had electricity problems during the regional playoff stage, including outages that affected crucial matches. Yet he still made it through.
That makes his #112 finish more than just a number. It was the beginning of the run that eventually took a Kenyan player all the way to the ENC.
Prorate is right behind him
If Shaq’s qualification was the biggest Kenyan headline, Prorate’s #145 finish is another major result.
The TR Esports player is one of the most proven names in Kenyan FC esports and has already shown that he can perform when the stakes are high.
His biggest recent international-level domestic run came in FC 25 at the Betika tournament, where he reached the final and went home with Ksh 250,000 after finishing as runner-up. That experience matters.
Prorate is not a player who suddenly appeared because of the ENC. He has been around the top level for a long time, and his position at #145 reinforces that he remains one of Kenya’s leading competitive players.
Kappa and Sam Jr finish almost together
Then comes an interesting little battle on the leaderboard.
Harry Kappa is #220.
Sam Jr is #221.
One position separates the two players.
Kappa needs little introduction to Kenyan FC fans. He is one of the country’s most respected players and has repeatedly delivered on tournament stages, including major money-match and tournament performances.

Sam Jr has also built a reputation as a serious competitor and now sits among the strongest Kenyan players on the continental ladder. For Kappa and Sam Jr to finish next to each other makes for a nice snapshot of just how competitive the Kenyan scene has become.
And there is more.
Phoenix Esports has four confirmed players in the Top 500
Phoenix Esports has been one of the biggest forces in Kenyan FC 26, and the ENC ladder gives another reason to talk about the organisation.
The team has four confirmed players inside Africa’s Top 500:
- Shaq — #112
- Sam Jr — #221
- Collo Gamer — #238
- Telki — #406
Shaq’s position obviously stands out, especially after his qualification. But Collo Gamer at #238 is another strong showing.
Collo has been one of the most active names in Kenya’s competitive FC scene and has already collected tournament wins since joining Phoenix. His presence in the Top 250 shows that his domestic results are being backed up on the wider African ladder.
Then there is Telki. Four players. Four different positions. One of Kenya’s strongest organisations showing its depth.
SC Esports also has two players among the leading Kenyans
SC Esports has built its reputation around developing and supporting some of Kenya’s best competitive players, and two of its stars finished almost side by side.
Ibrah — #248
Tank — #249
Again, just one position separates them.
Ibrah’s position is particularly interesting because his rise has been consistent rather than based on one big result.
He has been making podiums regularly over the past few years and recently got his breakthrough win at the KTLR.AFRIKA X MKU tournament, where he walked away with a voucher worth Ksh 15,000.

His #248 position gives another piece of evidence that Ibrah belongs in the conversation around Kenya’s top competitive players.
Tank is another player who has been busy.
After winning the SC tournament earlier in the year and earning his place on the organisation’s contracted lineup, he went on to finish runner-up at the Safaricom Hook Tournament, the TITECH tournament in Naivasha and the Bramz Tournament in Nakuru.

Now both SC players are sitting inside Africa’s Top 250.
TR Esports has three players in the Top 400
TR Esports also has a strong presence on the list.
The organisation has three confirmed players inside the Top 500:
- Prorate — #145
- Trex — #300
- Regulus — #392
Prorate is obviously the highest-ranked of the three, but the other two names are worth watching.
Trex is a proven tournament winner who claimed the Rangers tournament last year, taking home Ksh 90,000.
He is not new to pressure.
Regulus, meanwhile, is one of those players who can become extremely dangerous when he gets comfortable. He has made several strong tournament finishes and has already shown his ability to beat elite competition in in-house tournaments.
His victory in the Z Esports in-house money match in FC 26 is a good example. He went through a field that included players such as Trex, Atak, Maestro and Shaq.
A #392 finish may not tell the whole story of Regulus as a player, but it puts his name among Africa’s Top 400.
Kenya’s free agents are also making noise
The leaderboard is not dominated by organisations.
Some of Kenya’s strongest players are currently operating as free agents, and they also made their presence felt.
Masha sits at #364.
Kora, also known as Mkuluu, is #380.
And then there is Harry Kappa at #220, another major name currently listed as a free agent.
Kora is particularly familiar to East Gamers readers.
He was one of the winners at the Haier FC 26 World Cup Tour tournament, where players competed for Haier TVs rather than the usual cash prizes.

Seeing him inside Africa’s Top 400 shows that his competitive level extends beyond one tournament. The free-agent representation is important too. It shows that a player does not necessarily need to belong to one of Kenya’s biggest esports organisations to compete at continental level.
Z Esports and Horizon also make the list
Tornado, representing Z Esports, finished #302.
Tornado is another familiar name in Kenya’s FC scene, and his position puts him among the country’s leading players on the ladder.
Then there is Fox In The Box of Horizon Esports at #367. Fox has been a regular presence in major Kenyan competitions and has gone up against some of the biggest names in the country. His position is another reminder that the Kenyan competitive scene has several layers of talent.
The biggest organisations may get most of the attention, but players from different teams continue to appear whenever the competition moves onto a bigger stage.
Mcoasty, Masha, Kora and Telki complete the list
Four more names round out the confirmed Kenyan Top 500:

Mcoasty’s #384 and Leonescot #496 finishes give Santiago eHub representation among the Kenyan players inside the Top 500, while Telki’s position adds another Phoenix name to an already strong showing.

Why it matters
Shaq is going to Saudi Arabia. That is the headline. But the Africa ENC Top 500 Leaderboard tells us that his qualification did not happen in isolation.
Kenya had at least 15 confirmed players among Africa’s Top 500, including names from Phoenix Esports, TR Esports, SC Esports, Z Esports, Horizon Esports, Santiago eHub and several free agents.
That is serious depth.
And it is important for Kenyan FC esports because international competitions often give us a different way of measuring players. Local tournaments tell us who is winning in Kenya.
The ENC ladder gives us a glimpse of how those players are performing when they are thrown into a much wider African pool. The results are encouraging.
Shaq leads the way and has earned the biggest reward of all — a ticket to the ENC in Saudi Arabia. But behind him are Prorate, Kappa, Sam Jr, Collo, Ibrah, Tank, Trex, Tornado, Masha, Fox, Kora, Mcoasty, Regulus and Telki.
Sixteen names. Different teams. Different journeys. One competitive scene. And perhaps that is the biggest takeaway from the Africa ENC Top 500 Leaderboard.
Kenya does not have just one FC 26 player capable of competing at continental level. It has a growing group. Now the question is simple: who will be the next one to break through?
